Reflective.

Experience the raw power and humanity of Rustin’s work in De Reede Museum in Antwerp until 24 November.

Jean Rustin

Jean Rustin was a French painter who began his career in abstraction before turning, in the 1970s, toward a deeply personal figurative style. His canvases depict solitary figures in bare, almost timeless spaces — raw, vulnerable, and profoundly human. Far from idealized, Rustin’s paintings confront the silence of existence and the fragility of the body, inviting viewers into a world both unsettling and tender. Today, his work is recognized as a unique and uncompromising exploration of the human condition.
